Little Bird
Little bird little bird
you came to me
to share your joy
so I could see.
I talked you sang
as it should be
through God’s sweet gift
of harmony.
I woke each day
to meet your song
and danced to it
all day long.
And then the sorrow
and the pain
in one brief moment
swept away.
I cried I sobbed
I fell to the floor
then kneeled beside
their grave once more.
Little bird little bird
you came to me
to teach me God’s
sage irony.
